New York -- The Rev. Jesse L. Jackson, Sr., President of the Rainbow/PUSH
Coalition, will hold a news conference at 11 a.m. Monday, July 11, in the
Sockman Lounge of The Interchurch Center, 475 Riverside Drive, New York, N.Y.

The topic will be the extension of key provisions of the Voting Rights Act of
1965, extended by President Reagan in 1982. President Bush has not committed
to reauthorizing the Voting Rights Act, despite a direct request from Rep.
Jesse L. Jackson Jr. (D-Ill.)

The news conference is being hosted by the National Council of Churches USA.
